Tether offers a range of products in materials that are designed for those with metal sensitivities in mind. All of our septum clickers are cast and finished to a high polish using 316L stainless steel. Our solid gold ends are cast from solid 14 karat gold using meticulously welded implant-grade ASTM F-138 steel pins. All of our Modern Hoop earrings are made with .925 sterling silver hang wires.
If you have a severe nickel allergy, it’s best to use .925 sterling silver or solid gold only, as 316L steel does contain trace amounts of nickel. As a jewelry house founded by piercers, we are very aware of the effects of different metals and alloys on sensitive skin. If you're not sure about what materials are best suited for you, a custom order using .925 sterling silver or solid gold may be most suitable for you.
We get special requests for custom orders, especially from folks with sensitive skin or allergic sensitivity to certain metals and finishes.
